Adding a written note to outline

I’m using a PDF to create an outline/mind map and can easily record what I want to show when I select a piece of text I want to include. However, if I try to write my own notes it seems as though I can only write a shorter number of characters than my entire note. I keep trying to add to it and the note keeps cutting off the last few lines… I’m not sure if that is a limit or if I have done something wrong.

Notice that what was written in the first screenshot did not actually “stick”. It dropped off the last portion.
