it would be useful if positions in audios / videos could be bookmarked.
These bookmarks should ideally have full sync capabilities via iCloud. Same for PDF bookmarks.

well, excerpts and bookmarks serve a different purpose.
I use excerpts to capture the sections I want to review later.
The purpose of a bookmark, on the other hand, is to be able to continue where I left off OR to return to specific sections. For example, I might add a bookmark at the start of each chapter. Using excerpts for this would not be a clean solution.
Ideally, the bookmarks would be stored along with the document so that they are accessible in both document mode and study mode.
