Change the study notebook that opens up at the restart of the app

I am talking about Mac version here. Every time I restart the MarginNote app, it defaults back to ‘MarginNote 3 Notebook Sample’! How do I change it to 'the last opened"?

I am not sure exactly what is causing this problem, can you provide more information?

This happens a LOT, it’s frequent enough to generalise. I’ve seen it mostly on iPad, it will launch to a study that I haven’t worked on for weeks despite persistently opening and editing a newer study on that iPad frequently.

The problem has been discussed before on these forums though I can’t find the post(s) right now due to limited time.
