For excerpt comments the editing is very limited:
It should be the same as for normal / “non-excerpt” comments:

Hello, this is because in excerpt cards, actions like italicizing and underlining will both be recognized as “emphasis”. However, you can use Markdown formatting to enrich your text.

However, my features request is to make “Emphasis” separate so you can still do bold, italicizing etc. editing without using Markdown
