Hello,
I would like to request a powerful new capability for the built-in MarginNote AI: the ability to perform a global search across all notes in a user’s entire MN4 database.
The Problem
I recently asked the AI to find all mentions of a specific term (“Brouwer fixed point theorem”) across all my notebooks.
The AI responded that it cannot do this. In its own words:
“I don’t have access to a search function that can scan through all your stored notes in MN4… I cannot perform a global search across your entire note collection…”
The AI can only retrieve content from specific cards or pages if I provide the exact ID. This is very limiting.
The Solution
Please provide the AI with the tools to query and search the entire user note database.
When a user asks, “Where have I mentioned [concept X]?” the AI should be able to scan all notes and return a list of all cards/locations where that concept appears.
Why This Is Needed
This feature would transform the AI from a simple tool that can only look at one card at a time into a true “research assistant.” It would allow users to instantly find connections, review past work, and synthesize information across their entire library simply by asking a question. This would be an immense time-saver and significantly increase the value of the AI feature.
Thank you for considering this.
