I can’t wait for the AI functionality to be integrated into the application! It will greatly enhance studying, help with answering inquiries, and support writing tasks. This update has the potential to make the application a top choice in the market. I’m really looking forward to this exciting addition!"
If you read the feature set then you will see “assistive excerpting” which is defined by MN as “AI.” It is poorly implemented in my opinion.
I think one of the challenges is “what do you mean by ‘using’ AI?” I’m sure you have a clear picture of that in your head, but it might mean something different to different people.
Having it organise excerpted material is one thing, having it summarise complex sections of a document is quite another, having it see things in other documents that relate to what you are excerpting is yet another thing. Each is a very specialised task that would require significant development.
What you might be looking for is an LLM (which is not really an AI) but again, you might not be looking for that. The best thing you could do is describe how you could see AI used within MarginNote and spell it out clearly. Figure out how it should address your needs.
How does having Claude or ChatGPT in a browser window next to MarginNote not already help with writing tasks and answering questions? Can you not set as a custom URL to load that in the research window?
Edit: I just tried using the custom URL feature to add a LLM chat product (Claude and ChatGPT) and neither would let me sign in. Clicking the sign in with Google button just entered and endless spinning “Loading” screen. Sigh.
