HELP Annotations Disappeared from Document but Still Visible in Mind Map (MarginNote 4 on Mac & iPad)

Hello, I need help recovering my annotations.

While trying to flip the document horizontally with a friend (which we still haven’t figured out), a panel popped up unexpectedly, and my friend accidentally clicked “Yes”. Immediately after, all my annotations disappeared from the document.

The annotations are no longer visible in the document view. However, they are still visible in the Mind Map.The issue happens on both Mac and iPad, and I’m using iCloud sync. The annotations are not in the trash folder either. This happened suddenly after that unknown confirmation action.

I’m not sure what was clicked, and I really need help restoring the annotations back into the document.

Thank you in advance!

Hello, you can check the “Notebook” icon in the upper-left corner of pdf. It represents adding a new layer to this pdf, and the annotations on the original layer will not be visible in the new layer. You can click to find your previous layers. Hope this helps with your study.

If you mean this ?the answer is not there yet
The notes on my attached notebook had also disappeared
My exam is 10 days away and i lost everything :sob:

And if you mean the layer here
I am using only the default

Hello, I noticed there are annotations on your PDF. May I kindly ask if the issue of annotations disappearing is still occurring?

Yes they are i couldn’t find them
the annotations in the image from “Card Excerpt Tool”
The one which disappeared were from “ Document Handwriting tool”
The handwriting is still present on the cards only not in the pdf
Any handwritten notes outside the card had disappeared
Any handwritten notes in the attached notebook disappeared

Hello, we have discussed your situation in a meeting and believe this might be a bug. To troubleshoot the issue, we need your study set backup and iOS system version information. Would you mind sending the study set backup via private message or providing a network drive link containing it?
