In Recall Mode, how to make everything read-only

While in recall mode, I just want to click on the cloze portion to review the keys/phrases. However, it triggers edit on mindmap and select on documents. This is visually bothersome because it bring back all the cloze portion on mindmap, not one-by-one like the document view. I review better with mindmap card, so if there’s a setting I missed, appreciate the help.

Hello, thank you so much for using MN and providing us with your feedback! The blank spaces in mind map cards mainly serve as a summary view—we’ve categorized the feature of “clicking a single blank to reveal the answer” under “Review.” Within the “Review” section, there are functions similar to Anki flashcards.

Regarding the issue you mentioned, I’ve thought of three solutions:

  1. Operate directly within the “Review” section.
  2. Click to reveal answers in the documents—this works on the condition that you don’t change excerpts.
  3. Write by hand in the mind map or on the card; once you finish a section, exit the recall mode to check your work. (This is actually the method I use most often, and I hope it helps you!)

If you run into any confusion while trying these methods, feel free to reach out. We’re happy to walk you through it further!

Thank you for the through answer. I am definitely loving the first option and will be using it that way. However, can you provide your workflow for option 3? It sounds very useful but I can’t wrap my head around how that would work. I understand highlighter operates like cloze with recall mode, so both highlight and emphasize cloze are hidden in that mode. My take on your option 3 is you just create a scrap area, write out answer to the cloze section then check the answer?

I’m sorry that I’ve been dealing with a long allergy season, which has made my responses a bit slow. I usually use this method, and I’ve created screenshots to illustrate it—hope it makes sense to you! Of course, please feel free to keep sharing your experiences with me.
