This is because I want to be writing in one place with lots of space, and reading two other places. I don’t think the current options of having all horizontal views (forces me to zoom in too much to read) or all vertical views (causes me to have to zoom out to read) are very good for this purpose. Could we perhaps have slightly more flexible options to split the screen?
Edit: bring a below argument I made to the top:
I think my desired layout is excellent for students having the questions and say formulae on the right, and writing on the left.
Additionally, opening the app twice results in glitches and sync issues between the two apps and so isn’t a great solution, only a temporary work around.
Hi,
I do not have a solution unfortunately. But I am curious about your textbook template that you are using. Is this something build in MarginNote or did you create it yourself?
Thanks
Hi Meng. I am just using the page you get when you click the “+” there at the bottom and say “Add Blank Page”. Also I don’t need a solution, opening the app twice (once on the left and once on the right) works fine. But I am putting this as a feature request to ask the developers to please add the ability to split the screen in the way I show without opening the app twice.
Honestly I don’t know.
It is quite usual to open 2 apps on iOS, if you need to e.g. compare documents.
Also, there will be more and more flexible options with iPadOS 26.
I would agree if it were not for one huge issue: there are still many bugs with syncing the two apps. So for example, if the same document is open in two views and I write on one, the writing doesn’t appear for some time on the other. In addition, depending on the size of the documents, the writing often does not move across at all unless you reopen the document. Finally, the addition of a page in one open app does not add the page in other. So you can see that they have not coded for this use case - which is understandable.
Both of built in options don’t suffer the syncing issues I describe, but I don’t think either is good for writing and reading the same time - see my updated original post!
Thank you for using our product and for your detailed feedback! The workflows and experiences you shared are very important to us. I will sort them out and provide feedback to the developers.
