Problems reordering cards in outline view when large image/handwritten text cards are present

Hi all,
I am a heavy user of outline view, and often reorder things there rather than in the mind map. This is child’s play when all of the excerpts/notes are text, but when images are present (captured images from the text OR handwritten notes added to note cards) often they appear very large on the list and do not play well with manual re-ordering. By which I mean indenting/outdenting works fine, but trying to move that card up or down by one or two positions is often completely impossible - some kind of rapid auto-scroll occurs and the item flies to the top or the bottom of the list. Trying to move these items is hardest on the iPad, but only slightly easier on the Mac - the manual click/drag is just not sufficiently granular. It does not work to click/select the item and then scroll the mouse very slowly - the item moves a tiny bit when you first start to scroll (not enough to change its position in the list), then stops despite further scrolling - you are obliged to use mouse movement to move the item any further and that is what triggers the problem.

Is there any existing way to exert better control over this?? I just spent about an hour trying to get 4 images into the right position within the note list and finally gave up to send this message to the group!

If nothing like this exists and other users have the same problem, please consider this a feature request. Things that could help this problem include:

  • More granular control of upward/downward movement on the list: either better implementation of mouse scroll wheels OR mouse movement OR keyboard controls (e.g. in “outline swipe gesture mode”, select a note then click a key/arrow to move it up or down by one position on the list)
  • Slowing down the crazy-fast autoscroll that happens in this situation; perhaps as you see the right position approaching you could drop the note at the right time. Less ideal than the above approach, however.
  • Being able to shrink the size of images captured with the rectangle excerpt tool as they appear in the note list may help - as it is the large size of these notes that seems to cause the problem. Shrinking the images as they appear on the mind map does not change their size on the note list.

Thanks for any help the braintrust can offer!
