Request: Allow pasting OPML, Make MarginNote 4 AI Friendly

I have MarginNote 4 Max and I use it daily. I have over 30,000 notes and flashcards.
I went from using Anki, LiquidText, RemNote, and other tools to just using MarginNote.
It’s great. I use it to keep track of all things learning AND remembering. Remembering is a big part. There are plethora of note taking options but none has spaced repetition built-in, offline, with mind-map cards.

With that, creating flashcards still take time despite of all the features MarginNote has.

Fortunately, this has been hugely mitigated with the advent of AI tools like ChatGPT.
I could paste a book section, or Coursera/Youtube video transcript in ChatGPT and have it return a mind map with each node acting as a flashcard note where key concepts are clozed.

In the ideal world, I could just paste it in MarginNote 4, highlight all cards and select add to deck.
No need to manually create flashcards. It just saved me a massive time sink.
I can now just focus on absorbing and reviewing the material.

HOWEVER, currently, MarginNote 4 DOES NOT accept pasting OPML text nor have any ways of importing mind maps.

This is severely crippling. In the age where AI tools are becoming more commonplace in workflows, not having the ability to input data from said tools are limiting.

I hope whoever is in charged could see this and how impactful it is to have your main learning tool, MarginNote, play nice with AI tools.

TLDR:
→ Add OPML support. Use case: pasting OPML output from ChatGPT = instant mindmap and instant flashcards
→ Add ways to import standard mind map formats. Use case: Transfer data from mindmap programs or AI tools.

Thank you.

Thank you very much for using our product and for your detailed suggestions. I will convey the suggestions to the technical department. In addition, have you ever frequently used any software that supports importing and exporting OPML format files? This will be of great reference value to us.

Hi Adeline, I appreciate your prompt response.

Yes, I frequently use a mind mapping tool exclusively for this functionality. It’s called SimpleMind.
In fact, I use it daily in conjunction with MarginNote. My current workflow is to paste the OPML into SimpleMind first then copy and paste each node to MarginNote. Although I save time from thinking about the mind map structure and typing the content of each cards, it is still very tedious and time consuming to do.

Here’s a link to a demonstration from SimpleMind for this specific functionality:

I also attached a recording of my screen to demonstrate the difference of pasting the OPML between the two aforementioned software. I don’t see any playback preview of the video but I’m certain it was uploaded. I hope you could see it on your end.

Thank you for acknowledging this request.
I really hope this gets added in future updates!

Best regards,
