Without these features, I wouldn’t be able to upgrade to MN4. When conducting research in large documents, the ability to search and filter through hundreds of annotations is really useful, so I’d say it’s one of the most important features in MarginNote.
I don’t really have any screenshots, but the main reason is that on some PDFs, I might have over 100 annotations. If I want to quickly view annotations for a specific topic, I need to be able to search/filter the annotations list. Otherwise, I would have to manually check every annotation in the list, which slows down my workflow quite a lot.
Hi there Aurelius,
I had the same concern when I upgraded as I was a heavy user of the notes/outline in MN3. The functionality is still in there and you can access it whether you are in Document or MindMap/StudySet mode. Look above your list of annotations to find the Card button and hit that, which presents you with the same list of notes plus a search/filter bar at the top. In Document mode you cannot reorder them, but in StudySet mode you can.
