Several iPad Issues: Jumping Around PDF Bugs

Hi,

For the most part, I love Marginnote, but I’m having some significant issues with the app on my iPad making it very frustrating to use. There are a number of different circumstances where actions cause the PDF to jump around to unexpected spots. For what it’s worth, I can’t seem to reproduce this on the Mac version of the app.

1) Bookmarks

  • As shown in the video below, just opening the bookmarks tab causes the PDF to jump to a different page. For instance, I start on page 14, click to open the bookmarks, and the PDF jumps to page 12. Additionally, written annotations aren’t shown on certain pages while the bookmarks tab is open.
  • It’s worth noting that there are some pages which do not seem to have this behavior. (example at ~22 seconds into the video).
  • This happens both on notebooks that I’ve created purely for taking handwritten notes as well as PDFs I’ve imported.

2) Cards

  • When I click on a card in the MindMap, it locates that card on the PDF as expected. However, when I switch to the fullscreen view of the PDF, it will jump to another page. It’s usually fairly close so that’s not my biggest concern.
  • The main issue is that when I open the MindMap again, the PDF will jump to an entirely different page. This makes it pretty much unusable for switching back and forth between the MindMap and the document viewer for taking notes, reading fullscreen, etc.

Marginnote has been a huge asset to my notetaking workflow in school, but these issues are making it very difficult for me to use the app. I appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks!

Update: This seems to only happen when the iPad is in portrait orientation - which is the primary orientation I have it it when I’m taking notes in class. Hopefully this means it’s an easy-ish fix.
