Video Subtitle

Hello, I’m a huge fan of marginnote, and I introduce and recommend features to my friends. I like to study with videos. But it’s a pity that I can’t add subtitles. I mostly download subtitles from YouTube and watch them together, so I would like to use subtitles with the “srt” extension. Thank you.

I like the concept of young, which is very meaningful for students who learn something with video lectures etc. Recently, more and more educational materials are delivered in the form of video and subtitle, including closed-caption.

I am thinking of features similar to otter.ai, which makes voice notes. In otter.ai, I can click to jump to that moment and highlight to emphasize a specific part of the voice recording. If jumping to a particular moment by clicking subtitle and highlighting (without interference from other moments) are possible, it could mean a lot to people who study foreign languages or need accessibility service.

I am really looking forward to watching videos with subtitles on Marginnote!

Hello

Given that Marginnote's main body is in the learning mode's mapping interface, subtitles need to co-produce some more meaningful integration and interaction with the process of organizing notes. We want the new functionality to be tightly linked to the existing system, rather than an isolated new module. What specific ideas do you have about captions, other than using them for viewing text?

I wish the MN have own browser with specialty that users can capture from directly YouTube video parts as if we capture now (on MN)
There won’t be problems about subtitles, memory overload or deleting effort after editing…

I completely agree! The ability to interact with video lectures through features like clicking on subtitles and jumping directly to specific moments would be incredibly helpful for students, especially those studying foreign languages or needing accessibility support. It could significantly enhance the learning experience by allowing users to revisit key moments in a lecture easily, making studying more efficient and engaging.

Tools like Otter.ai have really shown how effective it is to link text with audio or video, so integrating something similar into platforms like Marginnote could be a game-changer. Highlighting and bookmarking important parts of a lecture, without losing context, would definitely help students retain information better and streamline their study sessions.

I’m also excited to see how these kinds of features could evolve! It could be a huge step forward for both accessibility and language learning. Looking forward to seeing it come to life!

I believe that integrating with AI will be the future trend of MarginNote .

The real win would be a local transcription model like Whisper Turbo integrated with MarginNote to create transcriptions for audio/video excerpts in seconds on demand. There could be a separate note section to store this.
