I have sent emails, posted inquiries, and provided feedback through MarginNote, but I have not received any response. I would like to know if this issue can be solved in a future patch.
In MarginNote 3 (on macOS), there was a feature that allowed users to create a child mind map directly from a card. However, this feature seems to have been removed in MarginNote 4. Additionally, when importing mind maps created in MarginNote 3 into MarginNote 4, the child mind maps either get merged into the main mind map or disappear entirely.
I would appreciate your prompt response regarding this issue.
unfortunately, I tried this way already. all card decks move into main mindmap. this probelm occurs when making a child mindmap into card deck directly.
it 's a bug, becaues all child mind map made in marginnote3 crash into marginnote4 or move to main mindmap. please check this problem comparing MN3 and MN4
and could you update the MN3’s feature on making a child mind map directly ?
Thanks for your reply. For MN4 bug, I strictly followed the steps you presented in the video, but was unable to reproduce the issue. Therefore, I suspect the following possibilities: 1. mindmap rendering issue (i.e., the card is actually already included in the child mindmap, but it failed to display successfully due to rendering issues). For this issue, you can resolve it by regularly cleaning cache files and organizing fragmented information (see global settings). 2. Software version issue. You can resolve this problem by updating the software. 3. Other operation-related issues. For example, we have previously recorded that certain shortcut key operations (such as ⌘+z) may cause cards to leak into the main mindmap, but this has been fixed. For this possibility, it is recommended that you repeat the operations in the video and record the shortcut key operations. If there are still problems, please feel free to continue the discussion.
For your suggestion, I already submitted it to the development team. Thanks for your contribution.
I got het same problem with the child map version. I cannot open any childmap after auto transferring to Marginnote 4(max version) from Marginnote 3. I also got the same issue with opening the childmap right after creating it.
Thank you for empathizing with my opinion. If other users are responding the same way, it seems like a bug. I am already updated to the latest version, and when I put cards into a child mind map, they move to the main mind map.
Also, cards created in MarginNote 3’s child mind map do not move to the main mind map when transferred to MarginNote 4. I hope this bug can be fixed. Also, in MarginNote 3, I could create a child mind map directly, as I uploaded in the video. I would like this feature to be reintroduced in MarginNote 4.
Also, you mentioned that it works properly in MarginNote 4, but I would appreciate it if you could upload a video showing that the bug, where the child mind map moves to the main mind map, does not occur.
As the video shows, the child mind map did not move to the main mind map.
We appreciate your feedback.
While the feature runs normally on my device, we do not dismiss the issue you encountered. Therefore, I have conducted various tests to replicate the problem. I did find that when the mindmap insertion position is set to “grouped (by table of contents)” , an issue occurs where navigating from a child mindmap redirects back to the main mindmap .
However, I am unsure if this aligns precisely with your experience. In your video, it appears that cards within the child mindmap disappear entirely and shift to the main mindmap . In contrast, during my testing, the cards remained in the child mindmap , but the system automatically switched the view from the main mindmap to the child mindmap .
Could you confirm which scenario you are encountering? If it is the first case, we will continue working to replicate and resolve the issue. If it is the second case, our current recommended solution is to change the setting of "mindmap insertion position " to "Last position ". The issue has been submitted to the development team.
as you checked this video, I have changed the settiing of "mindmap insertion position " to "Last position ". but the issue has been solved… could you tell me your Mac OS version?? my Mac OS version is sonnmoa 14
or can you email me your mn4 dmg that works properly, then I will check if the issue appear
Mine is macOS Sequoia, Version 15.3.1.
I suspect that this issue is caused by studyset transfer from MN3 to MN4 rather than a bug in MN4 itself. To test this, please try creating a new study set in MN4 and check whether the issue still occurs.
If you find that the problem arises from studyset transfer, please try the following workaround: avoid using the automatic migration feature. Instead, manually export a backup from MN3 and then import it into MN4. We will work on fixing this bug.
If you find that this is an MN4-specific bug, please provide more details, such as keyboard shortcuts used and software settings. I will make effort to reproduce and resolve the issue.
I think it mn4-specific bug. because I tried it in new study set. umm… what do I provide more details? I did not use any shortcuts, just using a mouse click. and what do you mean by software settings? maybe you wanna mn4 settings??
can you recommend the recording video program? I will provide you a video more details.
thank you for your effort/
