When source video is deleted, why is excerpt still alive?

I didn’t checked the box “Verify Video Excerpt” button, but the excerpt is still alive. (Not just the thumbnail, but also it plays the video of the certain start-end)

I want to know how the video excerpts, and where is it getting stored, since videos take up very large spaces, compared to documents.

Dear lasiwnq:

Thank you for using our product and for providing feedback based on your usage experience.
During excerpting, it will ask whether to upgrade the video to offline. If you don’t select that option, the excerpt won’t be converted into a new video and won’t take up extra space.

Best regards,
MN support team

yes, as i said, I did turned off “Verify Video Excerpt” button.
Still, the video is alive.

I have tried the situation you mentioned. Do you mean that when you delete the video in the studyset, the video excerpts in the mind map still exist and can be played? Or can they only be played when offline?

Yes, exactly.
For example, if I have video A (5minute), and created an certain excerpt (1min ~ 2min), and delete the original video, the certain excerpt is still alive. Although if I click, it doesn’t bring me to the original file since it was removed, the card still has the 1min ~ 2min data of the video, which seems like MN saves the whole 1 minute length of video in their original database somehow.
Which makes me think, then if I create lots of excerpt one 1 video, does that mean the storage in MN would store all those clips, seperately ?

Hello, we suspect this might be a bug. Would you be willing to share relevant screenshots and provide a backup of the study set that includes the original video so we can test and investigate the issue? Once confirmed as a bug, we will prioritize fixing it to elevate your learning experience. Thank you for your help!
