I hope MN mac supports Wacom Tablets (Intuos/Cintiq...)

MN for iPad has several downsides that make it hard for me to use:

  1. The screen is just too small. A 12.9-inch iPad might be fine for PDF annotation alone, but it becomes unbearable when working with mind maps.

  2. Editing mind maps on a 12.9-inch screen is painful. A keyboard doesn’t help, and the shortcuts are far from ideal.

  3. Sync is still not perfect—same old issues.

  4. The video feature is practically useless on the iPad, from file organization to importing, annotating, and storage management.

I understand that different users have different workflows, but I really hope MN will support a wider range of pen interactions on macOS. At the very least, proper panning/scrolling with the pen and shortcuts for switching drawing tools on the Mac should be supported.

What do you mean MN supports wacom tablets?

  1. Do you mean ‘support’ by MN mac uses the mouse function while drawing? (If you said support by this, how does this mean support?)
    Or else, does it support like iPad(Or at least, not a ‘mouse’ like) handwriting experience?

  2. What do you mean it supports those shortcuts? You mean switching thought excerpt tool? (ctrl + 1~9)? That’s not a shortcut for handwriting. It’s for the differenct excerpt tool. NOT a shortcut between various pencil and a eraser.

I posted about the Wacom incompatibility with MarginNote a few months ago, and it still seems unresolved. MN4 with Wacom pen tablet

The issue is simply you cannot use wacom tablet + wacom styles to do click-and-drag anything on the mindmap! i.e. you cannot move any card around, you cannot click-and-drag a rectangle to select multiple cards at once.

Only single click is working on the mindmap area. Wacom stylus pan is sort of working, but its pan speed is inconsistent to apple’s trackpad feel (but it’s fine, I can get used to this at least). I also don’t think this is a wacom driver issue. I tried apps like Astropad and Duet, I believe the issue is that MN4 can only recognise single click events from those styluses and cannot recognise click-and-drag.

It would be really nice if MN4 devs can get this patched, my mindmap is getting increasingly difficult to manage on iPad’s small screen. At the moment, I can only use trackpad/mouse to organise on iMac’s bigger screen, which is less efficient.
